Role: Exploration Manager, Lead a team of 8 in a start-up E&P department, reporting to the CEO of Sterling group of E&P companies in Nigeria with the formal/ external designation of ‘General Manager-Exploration
Role & Responsibility:
- Leadership and motivation of an exploration team, leading multi-disciplinary exploration teams to find oil & gas resources
- Ramping-up and building the exploration department of the start-up independent Oil and Gas operator in Nigeria
- Planning and co-ordination of field exploration activities, viz., 3D seismic surveys-acquisition & processing. Infrasonic Passive Differential Spectroscopic survey, design planning and implementation and wells operations-long term & short term
- Build and maintain strong relationships with JV partners. Operational teams and Government regulatory bodies. Co-ordination and management of internal and external resources to deliver exploration projects Gain approvals by Internal Management, Joint Venture and Government parties/regulatory bodies through active relationship management
- As part of a management team, identify, rank, plan & deliver key projects with a focus on value creation, maintenance and reporting of an exploration prospects & leads portfolio
- Administrative, technical, financial, resourcing and contractual focal point for exploration related activities.
- Geological and Geophysical interpretation and evaluation
- Contract and manage outsourced Geotechnical projects to consultancy groups as required, Create and maintain links with specialist geosciences contractors and academic institutions
- Provide quality assurance to the Senior Management/Board on Geosciences issues
- Advise and support management on geosciences related matters
- Technical milestone Planning of Exploratory, Appraisal wells for drilling
- Mentoring and development of geosciences staff , lead performance reviews
- Development of geosciences staff, nationals and expatriates via implementing focused training and development plans
- Resources planning for organic growth. Corporate Hardware and software induction, training
- As part of the management team, raise standard of technical systems, reporting and presentations
- Preparation of asset budgets and coordinating with regulatory budgeting agencies
- Adherence of work programme and budgets
- Budgetary control, commercial evaluation and procurement for reporting projects and operations to company standards
- Work with other functional managers to ensure tight integration of multi-disciplinary project teams
- As part of the management team, develop and apply standards for all G&G evaluation
- Liaise across the group on geosciences management and technical matters
- Peer review, Report writing and review of technical reports before finalization and sign off
- QHSE performance of projects and operations to company standards
- Technical & commercial evaluation of prospective blocks and new venture screening and ranking of projects for business development
- Data exchange, data trade discussions & negotiations
- Liaise with block contiguous companies on several issues including common area overlap surveys, right of way, permission for passage etc
- Liaise to introduce new geophysical surveys in the area – addressing concerns of security, HSE. Passive surveys were conducted for the first time in Nigeria
- Liaise with Personnel Security Risk Assessment agencies for conducting of assessment
